KerringtonDoberman x Staffordshire Bull Terrier , 2 years , Female . History; Sadie and Cougar. A beautiful five year old Doberman, and an aggressive three year old Staffordshire bull terrier. They were only two of almost thirty dogs living in Dallas, Texas, at a cattle farm that had been turned into a puppy mill. The dogs were an assortment of breeds, had terrible personality traits, and were horribly treated. Cougar had scars across his back and sides from fighting with one of the pit bulls. Sadie had just been bought, and was the prettiest dog that the crazy woman owned on her farm. This old woman thought that if she could manage to breed this lovely dog with Cougar, that the adorable puppies would sell like hot cakes. They'd grow up with attitude and muscle, but be gorgeous at the same time.
Suprisingly, Sadie was the only dog that Cougar could get along with. Her kindness toward him was not annoying, for she had learned when he wanted to be bothered and when he did not. She managed to bring his temper down at times, and he learned that though she seemed light-hearted, she wouldn't stand for his nonsense toward her. She also had a strong jaw, which he never forgot after the first bite. The lady that owned the farm was so pleased she she realized that Sadie was pregnant that she gave the two special treatment. They were both moved to a large pen and fed every day until the puppies were born. But what she saw ddn't make her happy, it only pissed her off into a terrible rage.
Five puppies were born. Sadie was panting and exhausted, Cougar was standing near her rather protectively. She inspected her five puppies, and although this had been her first litter, she knew instantly that something was wrong. One was not moving, at all. She licked and licked but it would not move. The second was fat and healthy for the circumstances. So was the third. The fourth would end up being a blind, a recessive gene from Cougar's father. The fifth was like her brothers, healthy, but not so fat. When the lady took the five from Sadie, the two dogs watched in anger as she tossed them in a box and marched toward her house.
Kerrington had been that last up, the little one who would end up perfectly healthy. When she was old enough to open her eyes, her first sight memory was that of her blind sister, being kicked halfway across the floor. The tiny pup had practically screamed at the attack, and Kerrington had shrunk down next to her brothers. They vaguely remembered that they should have another sibling, but the woman had thrown the dead pup to the pit bulls. Kerrington and her brothers were fed and played with, but her sister was always left out because of her blindness. The woman did not have use for a blind dog and wouldn not sell her to anyone.
When she was five months old, she was sold to a fat, greasy man who had an evil glimmer in his eye. His home stunk, and his children were mean. Kerrington feared for her life in that home, for a year and a half. She was beaten for barking at strangers and wanting attention. Her bubbly attitude irritated the children, they hated how calm she was at times and how she wanted nothing but to go outside and play. They hated her. Starved as a punishment to make the man feel better, and locked up in a cage that was entirely too small for her growing size when no one was home, which was quite often. This is the life that she had been given, and she hated it. She hated human from the moment she had opened her eyes. All they were were abusive and kept the food for themselves. There was nothing nice she saw in them. So when her life simply disappeared, she was thrilled.
Her owner was in the middle of beating her that night. His hand came smashing down on her face and body so many times, it was the worst she had receives since living with him. Finally, she came to terms with the fact that he was going to kill her then and there. She coward, laying down as far as she could, closed her eyes. She whimpered each time his hand come down on her, and wondered what she had done to him to make him so hostile toward her. She had wanted nothing but a family when he had bought her, a family that would love her like her siblings did, accept her happy-go-lucky personality. But they didn't. She had done something to upset this family, and now they were going to kill her. The man continued to beat her, until she fell unconscious from the many times he had brought his fist down on her head. She was out cold, but her mind kept telling her of what was going on. She was being dragged to her cage, the door slammed shut. Then blackness.
She awoke laying on a beach, staring out into the ocean. The sun on her back, warming her wounds. She had crawled to the tide then, but realized that the pain had subsided, that her wounds were scabbed over, and that she was extremely thirsty. Kerrington didn't know she had bee there for a couple of days. She had been so out of it completely that she didn't wake up the first day she had..come here. But now that she is away, in a beautiful place that has healed her heart, she is happy once more. She senses the danger of the island, but smells the other canines. No humans, no hurt. This island, to her, is a second chance at life.
Personality; Devoted Once she has something to set her mind to and work for, it will be a tremendous challenge to get her to give up. She works hard for what she wants, and doesn't give in simply because of one or two mistakes.
Cheerful As if she doesn't have an angry bone in her body, Kerrington can almost always be seen with a smile on her face. This aspect of her personality is where the puppy in her shows through, as she is always bouncing around and trying to make others happy and comfortable. She sometimes seems like she cannot be serious or mature about anything, but that is certainly not the case.
Forgiving Having been kind since her birth, this female honestly can not hold a grudge against anyone. So long as she, or whoever was offended, is offered an apology, of course.
Humble Kerrington doesn't think highly of herself in any way. She doesn't think she is anything special to look at, doesn't believe that she is smarter, braver, or stronger than anyone else.
Tolerant It's hard to piss her off to the point that she doesn't want to be around you. She also doesn't discriminate against anyone and believe that it's easier to tolerate things that do no harm.
Responsible Though she's young and most would suspect her of being careless and maybe even reckless, she's actually somewhat mature for her couple of years. If she's given a duty or someone asks her to do something, she puts this thing above all else.
Alert Perhaps a bad thing, she's always on her toes underneath all that happiness. She's not daft to the 'evil' in the world, and fears the worst for some.
Averse to Risk Because of her fears, Kerrington would rather not take risks and instead keep her feet on the ground where she knows she'll be able to walk.
Appearance; Kerrington is a pretty dog, her black and brown coat and markings coming from her mother. Her fur is very short and fine. She has muscle potential thanks to her father, but living in a cage half her life and being beaten and starved the other half doesn't really rack up any strength on her part. The potential is there though. She has dark brown eyes that seem to reflect the pain she has felt and the anger that has been held deep in her belly. They have turned more kind though, since being on the island, and sometimes glitter with happiness.
Kerrington should weigh around fifty and ninety pounds, between her two parents- if they had been taken care of properly as well as she. But because she was not fed on a regular basis nor taken outside of her home in more than a year, she is only almost sixty pounds. She stands at a normal height of a female Doberman, which is about twenty-five inches. She has that square, could-be-stocky build of both breeds and has the potential of speed and endurance. She is thin and lithe, but has learned to be easy on her feet so she is not caught up and walking around.
Kerrington is basically very pretty, though she is still very thin too. With good meals and plenty of room to run and climb, her god-given muscle should build up to make her look more like the standard Doberman mix she is. She smiles more now that she is away from her old life, and as far as she knows, not going back. Her features together seem more relaxed now that all she has to worry about is a high tide and too much sunshine, other than the other dangers of the island that she wont go galloping into.
Likes & Dislikes; Likes Water It clears her mind, makes her calm. Democracy Its irritating when someone tries to decide things for her. Friends They make everything easier, right? Birds Especially the island birds. They are colorful and interesting to her. Sun Whether it is shining or setting, she loves the warmth it brings to her coat and the striking colors the sky turns.
Dislikes Males Specifically the ones who try to impress her with their muscles. Humans The reason why she has nightmares. Going Hungry Starved half of her life, she often makes sure she has food. Cold Weather Her short coat is not made for protection against rain and snow. Nightmares The make her feel small and weak.
Goals & Desires; Goals
Make friends on the island. Find her place within a pack. Never return to her old life.
Desires
Fall in mutual love. Create a family. Lead a pack one day.
Strengths & Weaknesses; Strengths
Understanding Selfless Agile
Weaknesses
Too good-natured Lack of muscle Unable to judge others
