Island Ibizan Hound , Five years young , Female .
Past History; Island was bred for her unique appearance and physical characteristics by two of the most renowned Ibizan hound breeders in the world. They had nearly a hundred couples, like her parents, who bred for them only the most top-quality puppies that the humans sold to people looking for a rare species of pet all over the world. Her childhood was relatively uneventful- she was raised at her owners kennel with two siblings and her parents, with thousands of cages of other dogs barking to and around her. It was very much like a puppy-mill setting, with all of the dogs crammed in there, but there was ample space, and relatively decent living conditions, so the humans were never fined or checked up on.
From birth, Island had all of the different personalities living in her. They were not very strong- each only a glimmer of a persona- but, as she grew, so too did they. When she was weaned and put on solid food, Lyle took command of her body and killed and devoured her siblings. This was seen as an odd act, but not an unacceptable one by her parents and humans, and was passed off as simply overcrowding which led to stress on Island herself that she took action to relieve.
At one year of age, Island was sold to a rich young couple with beach front property. They had bought her to show off to their friends, as her breed was and still is particularly expensive, and once the act of showing her about wore off, they simply let the dog do whatever she pleased on their property. When she was about one and a half, her owners took her out on their boat for the first time. It was at that point that her memory of her entire life gets a tad fuzzy.
She woke up, much as the new island dogs did, on the beach, with little recollection of how she got there. Her first day was spent mapping out the area and seeking shelter, and once she had all of the basics covered, the ibizan hound went searching for answers. She hasn't revealed whether she ever found any on the island or not, and as she mostly keeps to herself when in her own form, no one has thought to ask.
Island has lived on the island for quite some time, and in that time, she cannot remember such a massive income of dogs. She remembers others being around when she was, but since those, and the children of those, no new canines have appeared until now. She is curious as to where they all came from, but intent to avoid the new beasts at the same time. Only time, and her other personalities, will tell if she will leap into investigation of the new canines, or simply stay on the sidelines.
Island History; Island has spent all of her time on the island exploring and keeping herself alive. She tends to avoid the other older island dogs, as she isn't social in her base personality, and therefore has few friends. She considers herself to be a secret keeper on the island, as she likes to think she knows the islands secrets, but no one out of the few who have spoken with her know if the things she knows are true or simply a lot of hooey. Basically, she keeps herself to herself, and leaves no time for being social. It is a fact that few know her, and even fewer see her, so she is, in essence and through the lips of fellow older islanders, a ghost dog.
Personality;
Island has dissociative identity disorder, otherwise known as multiple personality disorder. Because of this, her personality will be split among the three other 'persona's' that inhabit her body. Each being, as she likes to think of them, that inhabits her form has their own unique personality, actions, and mannerisms. None of the three know the others exist, so no matter which guise she has on for the day, she will never remember what was done or said when shifted into the next identity. She does have a base personality, which is what the three stem from, and while this basic identity is self-aware, and conscious of the other personalities, none of the personalities themselves are.
(Three personalities inhabit Islands body- or, rather four, as Island herself counts as one. They are Island, the host, Caprina, the wild, Iona, the sweet, and Lyle, the psychopath.)
I S L A N D
Island is a silent being, whether by choice or by force. The only times she seems particularly animated or willing to talk seem to be when her curiosity is piqued- an act that happens only rarely, so, the majority of the time, she is a very quiet canine.
Unintentionally helpful and serene, it is said this quiet dog seems to have something of a Hercules complex- she cannot turn down a request for help. Her elusive nature mostly negates this aspect of her personality, but on the rare chance she can be 'caught' around, Island will do all she can to assist those who require it. Though she is sweet in this way, Island is rather paranoid about who she helps- one can never be too careful, when dealing with fellow islanders in a dog-eat-dog setting. Those you help might only be using such wisdom for other means.
Proud? Not a feeling this canine gets to feel too often. Because she lacks confidence in herself- as both an earlier islander, as well as a dog in general- she seems to be in a quietly sulky and indifferent mood the majority of the time. On the off-occasion when she isn't an immobile, stolid hunk of serious canine, she often disappears to make his own fun.... Though those who know her habits and tendencies could easily uncover her braving the monsters of the cave and sand, climbing up into their terrain without a care.
Island does not fear death- she never has. The monsters of legend on the island don't scare her, and nor do others fearful attitudes toward the tales. While she, with all of her being, believes the stories are true, she cannot bring herself to be afraid. This dog has cheated death so many times that she treats danger as a dance with her oldest friend and rival.
Island is a pushover- there is no way around it. When faced with a verbal challenge she bends like a sprig of grass in 70 mph winds. Not one for conversation besides those pertaining to her interests and explorations, this portion of the dog is rarely ever noted.... but it is certainly there, and you can see it, if you can bully her into some conversational debate. She seems mostly too out of it for such things though- as if her mind is always elsewhere, in some distant land that no one else can reach.
C A P R I N A
Caprina is one of Islands odder personalities. She is a completely mute creature, who has little knowledge of words, and is, overall, not very bright. A wild and feral creature, she is the past, the roots of Island's Ibizan heritage, and is the most down-to-earth and back-to-nature soul of the bunch.
Caprina is very adept at reading body language, if nothing else. Movements and tenses of the body are understood fluently by her mind, and actions literally speak louder than words for this dog.
Unyielding and rather tribal in her treatment of every other creature besides herself, Caprina has no time for games or chats. Her mindset is that of the ultimate survivor and warrior- do anything you can to stay alive. Keep yourself fed. Have children. Thrive. Battle. Win. Like island, and all of the other persona's, she does not fear death. She does not welcome it- preferring to live a wild and free life, untouched by anyone or anything- but she will accept her time when it comes.
Caprina lives like a feral canine of the earlier ages of the earth. Her life is the hunt, the obtainment of food, and it is mostly all she does when she is in control of Islands body. It is this persona, out of all of them, that usually keeps Island full when it takes over, as she spends all of her time 'in command' tracking and cornering prey.
The other thing Caprina does is flirt. Not with words, as she is a silent being, but with physical touch and action. She is, to be blunt, the whore of them all. As her mind considers itself to be dated back in time before humans, she lives simply for food and babies, and those two things are her sole pleasures in life. She'll brush up to any dog stronger than she- for her primal mind seems to select potential mates as creatures who can take care of her when she needs assistance- and do whatever it takes to end up with strong children with a high survival rate. Natural selection is perhaps the only word this canine would understand.
Overall, Caprina is somewhat like a machine. Uncaring and indifferent to the world, and only placed on its surface to do what she needs to. There is no fun- save for a romp with boys to try and get herself in strong canines good graces- and there is little time for it. Every act she does is simply another action to drive her further toward survival.
I O N A
Iona is perhaps the nicest of Islands personalities. She is ridiculously kind and considerate- almost to a point of being so sugary sweet that it is scary. She is a bubbly, free spirit who loves nothing more than company, and when in control of Islands body, she'll actively seek out other canines to play with.
Iona- or, Nonie as she likes to be called- is overly affectionate. She wags her tail at anyone, and is never at a loss for a greeting lick or brush on the side. This attitude has backed her into many a corner- as females who do that to males are usually thought of to have only one thing on their pretty little minds- but her seemingly limitless luck and naive attitude usually back her right out of such precarious situations.
An incredibly carefree canine, there is nothing this dog frets over. Dates and times are never kept when she is in control, and, being a canine to move on impulse, she often ends all of them up in the oddest of places by the time someone else seizes control.
The phrase 'No worries,' is what Nonie lives for, and she aligns her life under that very saying. She'll do whatever she wants whenever she wants, and she'll do it wherever she wants and whenever she pleases, and nothing more than the end of the world could possibly halt this canine in her tracks.
Incredibly stubborn and set in her ways and opinions, Iona is hard to control. Once she gets an idea in her mind, it absolutely has to be put to fruition, no matter what it may be. Every thought of every action must immediately be gone through with, as even the slightest impulsive thought seems to register in her body before her mind even catches wind of what she's making herself do.
L Y L E
Lyle is perhaps the most terrifying and aggressive of Islands personalities. He- for, yes, her mind has morphed herself into thinking she is a male in this guise- is quite a beast. Lyle, to sum it all up, can be described simply as a monster. There is no kind side to him, nor a humane one, and he lives in his own world where rules mean nothing and where fighting is simply a game of strategy. He is mercilessly clever and cunning, and ruthless when it comes to flaunting these facts. His ability to twist and manipulate the minds and forms of others is one of his greatest abilities, though his ability to refrain from doing so is his greatest flaw. Lyle is incapable of being anything but an unrestrained example of feral canine toward those around him, which either drives those who surround him away, or to the brink of insanity. He can easily be called an eccentric being, as he is unconcerned with canine society's disapproval of his many unique habits. He doesn't quite comprehend the notion of 'normal,' and therefore doesn't believe it is a labeling that applies to him. His overall attitude toward fitting in and things of that nature is a strong one of non-conformation. His extreme curiosity, outspoken mannerisms, obsession with his own little world and disdainful eating habits set him off as an eccentric enigma in any group or society, which only seems to drive him further and further into his own world.
He is a very dark being. Not darkly depressing in the way that he always sees things negatively, but dark in his off-kilter ways of going about the world. Gruesome scenes and gore are two things that this ibizan hound has pleasure for, as well as the action of causing such massacres out of malice. He giggles in the face of pain, and can be considered both a sadistic creature- with a love of inflicting pain on others- as well as masochistic one- with an equal passion for being abused himself. Whether these two traits were carried over from some shadowed past, Lyle isn't quite sure, but he doesn't seem to have a problem with displaying such horrible portions of himself. If he is anything, he is an open being whose sins are clear for all in the world to view. He may be psychotic, and dangerous atop that, but he has no shame for the things he does, and only a lust for more of it to continue onward.
Lyle, though a horrible influence and quite the unsettling being to be around, is incredibly charismatic. Whether his charm comes from the diplomatic air he emits, or the aristocratic sneer that always tweaks his lips into a perpetual grin, or even simply his handsome appearance that lulls others into a sense of well being, the dog is not particularly concerned with. He harnesses his looks and ability to attract a crowd when he needs somebody malleable to mold to fit one of his many schemes, and plucks off victims like feathers on a bird he is about to devour. Murderous, and quite often victorious in his acts, Lyle is not a beast to be trifled with.
Before. Island was, and has always been, the way she is currently. Back when she was with her owners, she often switched between mindsets and caused them loads of grief with the crazy stunts and actions she would pull when each individual took control of her. She couldn't control when another took over, or who it was going to be, and the wake of destruction and craziness she left in her path was constant, much as it is now.
After. Basely? All of her personalities remain the same as they were before. Their extreme personalities remain the epitome of their individual traits, much as before, and Island herself is still the neutral point of all of them. She cannot control when the next one will come in to play, or when she will regain her base persona, much like before, and this fact still mildly annoys her.
Other; To break this down into simpler terms, Island, in all of her personalities, is Switzerland. None of her traits stand out much. Lyle is her darker side. He is a cannibal who preys on the flesh of other dogs, and is, though very charismatic, a raging psychopath. Iona, who prefers to be called Nonie, is a sweet, if somewhat idiotic canine who loves nothing more than being alive. The final being in Islands head is Caprina, who, in all her odd glory, is a feral, primeval whore, whose mindset is that of one of the worlds earliest canines. All of them share a lack of fear for death or injury, and all of them share a strong strive for survival, though it is stronger in some than others. None of them, however, share the same characteristics or traits, and each has separate mannerisms to go with their unique personalities. It is almost as if four canines inhabit the same body- but not quite.
[PS. If any of you are from faceless, something beautiful, or any of my other sites, you might recognize some parts of the personality from some of my other characters. All of the writing is my own, so it is fine for me to mix and match older writing for newer characters, in case anyone out there might think I'm stealing or anything. :3]
