welcome to the renfield memorial mental institution, built in 1983. you'll love it here. it's at the top of a big hill. the food is inedible, the patients belligerent, and the doctors short a few cards themselves. rumor has it there's a haunting going on in the building, too. the spirits of dead patients -- a few too many for a building so young, don't you think?

well. you'll love it as long as you keep taking your pills, anyway.

because as long as you take your pills, you'll start to notice you can do things. strange things. things that you have to ask yourself about. "is this real?" - "what's wrong with me?" - "am i getting worse?" - "what kind of freak am i?" -- and of course, that's exactly what they want you to think. they want you to question yourself, to stay just a little longer.

but the truth is, it's all in the pills. something in that medicine reacts with something deep inside of you, something dark and cold. and it manifests. boy oh boy, does it manifest. you'll be able to do things you've never been able to do before. things you never even thought possible. incredible, terrifying things. and have you ever heard about what goes on in the basement? what the doctors do to those they take a scientific interest in? such screams you can hear, if only you press your ear to the floor...
